EEOC ALERT: Democrats Take Majority, Aggressive Agenda Likely to Follow

Earlier this month, the United States Senate narrowly approved the confirmation of Kalpana Kotagal 49-47 as an EEOC commissioner, after President Biden had nominated her over a year ago. Kotagal has made a name for herself working as an employment attorney for plaintiffs over the years. 

Her recent confirmation gives the five-member EEOC commission a Democratic majority for the first time during President Biden’s administration.  Many expect this confirmation to serve as a green light for the EEOC--through its various regional and field offices throughout the country-- to aggressively pursue its agenda on a variety of topics, from artificial intelligence to sexual harassment to pay equity.
