How Do You Calculate Child Support in Missouri?

Child support in Missouri is a calculation based on a form created by the state of Missouri, called a Form 14. There are many factors included in the form 14, but some of the most common are: income of both parents from work (and any other source of income), payment of health insurance premiums to cover the children, and a credit for overnights by the paying parent. It can also include payment of support for children who are not children of the parents. While the form can seem straightforward to calculate child support, there are considerations that need to be taken into account in drafting the form, including whether a child has special needs or other extraordinary expenses, and what the "credit" for overnights for the paying parent is. Asking for assistance from an attorney familiar with the child support calculation is a good idea, to ensure that are either not paying too much, or receiving what you should in support.
