Marketing/Business Development Manager

The key roles the Business Development Manager will serve are the following:

Business Development and Firm Marketing:

  • Supports Marketing Partner in firm wide marketing efforts.
  • Prepares and responsible for marketing budget.
  • Establishes a branding strategy and ensure that the brand is consistently and well used throughout the firm.
  • Provides marketing and business development advice and support to attorneys to assist them in the execution of their individual marketing plans.
  • Understand the needs of attorneys and ensures they have the resources necessary to get it done.
  • Provides training programs in business development efforts for attorneys and members.
  • Identifies opportunities to increase firm and individual attorney visibility.
  • Execute, manage, and/or coordinate all business development and client relations initiatives.
  • Develop and execute client service programs.
  • Creates various collateral pieces for use with the firm’s marketing activities to include ads, mailers and press release materials.
  • Assists in updating practice area materials, attorney biographies and various directory listings.
  • Oversees with the planning of internal and external marketing.
  • Identify and facilitate attorney involvement in industry and community organizations that will enhance respective business development efforts.
  • Chairs the Marketing Committee.
  • Prepares monthly marketing updates to firm members.
  • Maintains excellent relations with media staff.
  • Supervises marketing staff.


Practice Group Marketing:

  • Assists practice group leaders in developing and implementing marketing plans that focus and support the firm’s marketing strategies.
  • Assist in preparing and monitoring marketing budgets with Practice Group Leaders.
  • Serves as liaison with practice group leaders and conducts research to assess and support cross-selling efforts.
  • Actively participate in practice group meetings; report regularly to each practice on their initiatives and results
  • Attends various practice group meetings to support business development efforts.
  • Prepare responses to RFP’s in collaboration with key attorneys.


Marketing - Technology

  • Manages firm’s website and analyzes traffic information.


Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to speak effectively and polished presentation skills.
  • Must be able to travel to other firm offices as needed.
  • Must be self-motivated and independent, well-organized, able to work with a minimum of supervision and to work well with attorneys and staff.
  • Organized with a positive can-do attitude.
  • Knowledge of client database management.
  • Creativity in using various graphic software.
  • Internet research skills.


Prior Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in marketing, sales and business development in a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Experience leading others in marketing and business development efforts.


Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing.
