Kristy Bourgeois is a shareholder with the firm. She joined Sandberg Phoenix in September 2009 after serving the firm as a summer associate in 2008. Kristy is a member of the Business practice group. Working mainly with clients owning small-to medium sized enterprises, her expertise spans many business and transactional legal matters, including mergers and acquisitions, contract drafting, business formation, real estate law, business succession planning and homeowner’s and condo association law. Kristy is also experienced in helping minority-and women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises optimize their business enterprise certification and in assisting their business formation and operation.
Kristy’s broad knowledge of business law helps her anticipate potential issues even her clients may miss, allowing her to strategize for and overcome legal issues before they occur. Thriving under pressure, Kristy assists clients in short deadline and crisis matters, applying her careful attention to detail and creativity to solving problems effectively and efficiently.
In addition to helping clients, Kristy also has been inspired to impart her in-depth knowledge of law to the next generation of attorneys. She is an Adjunct Professor at Saint Louis University, teaching a class on Real Estate Law to undergraduates. The course covers various topics, including surveys, contracts, closings, leases and condominiums. This experience keeps Kristy up to date on the law and encourages a constant discussion of trends in the Real Estate area.
After working hours, Kristy enjoys running, and frequently completes half marathons, as well as participates in a weekend kickball league. She is constantly on the lookout for new restaurants to try on a night out with her friends, and enjoys the fine cuisine found throughout St. Louis. Kristy is also an excellent cook, often cooking unique dinners for her friends. Finally, Kristy’s keen taste for BBQ has earned her a certification as an authorized BBQ judge.
