Sandberg Phoenix & von Gontard P.C. is pleased to announce that Mary L. Jennings, Director of Human Resources and Client Relations at the firm, was presented with the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) Outstanding Association Volunteer Award at ALA's 38th Annual Educational Conference and Exposition this month in New Orleans. Mary was recognized because of her continued and exceptional service with the organization. The first award was given in 1991, and of the 10,000 members of ALA, there have been 44 recipients of the award. Mary has been a member of ALA for 20 years and was recently sworn in as President of ALA’s Gateway Chapter. Mary has also served as a regional officer for ALA and on various local and national committees.

Sandberg Phoenix & von Gontard P.C. is honored to announce that Kenneth W. Bean has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers. The Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers is for Missouri lawyers who devote a substantial amount of time to the representation of defendants and potential defendants in civil litigation either as trial lawyers or as lawyers otherwise directly involved with the defense of civil litigation. The Organization’s purpose is to provide an avenue for defense lawyers to exchange information, ideas and techniques, with the ultimate goal of raising the standards of trial practice, improving the administration of justice through our civil adversary system of jurisprudence, and increasing the quality and quantity of the service and contribution rendered to the community by the legal profession.
Mr. Bean is a shareholder and founding member of Sandberg Phoenix & von Gontard. He focuses his practice in health law and litigation. Mr. Bean has experience in the defense of high-risk medical malpractice litigation and medical products liability. Over the last ten years, he has tried to completion over fifty cases. Mr. Bean was inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers in April of 2006. He was named as one of the best trial attorneys in the country by Best Lawyers in America for 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 in the areas of health care and medical malpractice law and personal liability litigation. He was also named to Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 in the Medical Malpractice area. In addition, Mr. Bean was named to the Top 100 Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers in 2006 and 2008, the Top 50 Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers in the St. Louis area for 2006, 2007 and 2008 and one of the Top 10 Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers in 2007.
