State Board Disciplinary Proceedings

Due to our extensive experience litigating medical malpractice claims, the members of the Health Law practice group are skilled at identifying issues and developing defenses to allegations of professional misconduct.

We routinely prepare doctors, nurses, therapists, aides and other ancillary providers for interviews and assist them through the investigative process, which often takes six months to a year to complete.

The Missouri Board of Registration for the Healing Arts is charged with licensing and regulating the various professions providing health care services to the citizens of Missouri. The board is composed of eight physicians and a voting member of the public, and is required by law to investigate all complaints lodged against health care providers. In Illinois, a similar function is performed by the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, which oversees over one million professionals. Each board receives approximately 1,000 complaints per year against health care professionals, most of which result in interviews of the health care providers, and some of which require a hearing before the board.

We represent individuals before all of the boards at the Division of Professional Registration, including the Missouri Board of Registration for the Healing Arts, the Missouri Dental Board, the Missouri Board of Pharmacy, the Missouri Board of Nursing, the Missouri Dental Board, the Missouri Committee of Psychologists, and the Missouri Board of Accountancy.

We also assist our clients with controlled substance registrations issued by the Bureau of Narcotics & Dangerous Drugs.
