Biography
Peter von Gontard is a shareholder and founding member of Sandberg Phoenix & von Gontard, and he is a member of both the Executive Committee and the Compensation Committee. Peter concentrates his practice primarily in the areas of high exposure product liability and medical malpractice suits, and has successfully tried numerous jury trials.
Peter was named as one of the best trial attorneys in the country by Best Lawyers in America for 2006 and 2007 in the areas of Personal Injury and Product Liability Litigation, in 2008 in the areas of Health Care Law, Medical Malpractice Law, Personal Injury Litigation and Product Liability Litigation, and from 2009-2011 in the areas of Medical Malpractice Law, Personal Injury and Product Liability Litigation. In 2007, Peter was named as a Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyer in the areas of Health Care and General Defense and named in 2008 and 2009 in the area of Products Liability.
While appearing in the Eastern District of Missouri and the Southern District of Illinois, most of the cases Peter defends are filed in the City of St. Louis, Missouri and Madison County and St. Clair County, Illinois.

Civic Activities
Peter is a life member of Ducks Unlimited and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and is on the Board of the Great Rivers Habitat Alliance. He is the Attorney for the City of Huntleigh, Missouri. He is also a member of the Missouri Police Chief’s Association.

Peter earned his Juris Doctor from Saint Louis University School of Law in 1973.
He earned his B.S. from Saint Louis University in 1970.
