Mary Lou joined Sandberg Phoenix in June 2016, and currently supports the firm’s Business Practice Group on bankruptcy Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 consumer debtor issues for the firm’s banking and corporate clients in drafting Motions for Relief from the Automatic Stay and Proofs of Claims and other aspects of creditor bankruptcy representation. She also assists in creditor’s rights litigation. Mary Lou also supports the Business Litigation Practice Group focusing on product liability, personal injury and medical malpractice. She brings 33 years of law firm experience with 26 years as a paralegal in the areas of litigation, bankruptcy, creditor’s rights, foreclosures and mechanic’s lien. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas and a Paralegal Certificate from Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas. She is a is a member of The Kansas City Paralegal Association (KCPA) and participates in monthly meetings. Mary Lou and her husband, LeRoy, have two adult children. In her spare time, she enjoys going to the gym and watching the Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs.
Dawn joined Sandberg Phoenix in March 2018 as an IP Paralegal, and currently supports the firm’s Business Practice Group. She has an extensive intellectual property background and is well versed at all aspects from her 24 years’ experience in both domestic and foreign patents and trademarks. Dawn assists the attorneys with all aspects of domestic and foreign patent prosecution and trademark prosecution and maintenance including coordinating with a network of foreign associates regarding patent and trademark protection worldwide. In addition, she maintains data integrity within the CPI docketing system, monitors patent application deadlines to ensure that all data is accurate within our databases for each of our clients.
Bretta joined Sandberg Phoenix in 2018 with more than 30 years of experience in the intellectual property law field. She has worked as a trademark paralegal since 1996 gaining experience in all aspects of trademark law. She manages numerous client portfolios, domestic and foreign.
Janet joined Sandberg Phoenix in February 2005 as a Foreclosure Paralegal, and currently supports the firm’s Business Practice Group focusing on mortgage services and banking services. She received her A.A. from Sanford Brown College in 1999 and is currently pursuing her B.A. in Business. She brings six years of experience as a paralegal, during which time she became the Senior Lead paralegal for a local law firm that provided bankruptcy, foreclosure and eviction services. To further her knowledge and education, she continues to attend various programs and seminars administered by Missouri accredited paralegal associations and is a member of the St. Louis Paralegal Association.
Jaime joined Sandberg Phoenix in 2012 and currently supports the Business Practice Group, specializing in Wealth and Estate Planning. She works with clients in the coordination and preparation of all aspects of their estate plan. She also works with the clients and attorneys to draft POAs for financial and health care purposes, last will and testaments, revocable trusts, qualified spousal trusts, special needs trust, gift trusts, insurance trusts and dynasty trusts. Jaime also manages the daily aspects of clients seeking to be a loved one’s guardian and conservator. Another focus of her practice is assisting clients in retitling their assets to ensure the appropriate implementation of the client’s estate plan. Prior to joining Sandberg Phoenix, Jaime worked as a paralegal at an estate planning firm specializing in estate planning, elder law, long-term care and Medicaid planning. Currently in her second year at Saint Louis University School of Law, Jaime graduated with her B.A. in Communication Studies from Indiana University – Indianapolis in 2005. She serves on Sandberg Phoenix’s Charity, Values and Wellness Committees, and is a member of the St. Louis Paralegal Association and the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis. Jaime also serves on the board of Families at Ease and the Junior Board for Pathways to Independence.
Lori is a Senior Paralegal supervising the mortgage services department at Sandberg Phoenix & von Gontard, P.C. Lori has been a paralegal since 1992, specializing in the areas of landlord-tenant law, creditors’ rights, judgment enforcement, debt collection, evictions, foreclosures, REO closings and quiet title litigation. She has her A.A. in Business Administration from St. Louis Community College at Meramec and her paralegal certificate from Mid-America Paralegal Institute. She received her B.A. in Legal Studies from Webster University, graduating with departmental honors. She obtained a supplemental paralegal certificate in Paralegal Studies from Webster University. In May 2005, Lori became a Certified Paralegal through the National Association of Legal Assistants (“NALA”). She is a member of NALA, the St. Louis Paralegal Association (“SPA”) and the Association of Legal Administrators (“ALA”). In 2009 Lori was named “Paralegal of the Year” by SPA. Lori has served on SPA’s Board of Directors as Director, Vice-President, President and NALA Liaison. She has also chaired SPA’s Membership Committee and Co-Chaired Annual Paralegal Day. Lori currently serves as the ALA Liaison for SPA and Co-Chairs SPA’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee. Additionally, Lori is serving on ALA’s Strategic Alliance Committee and Chairing ALA’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee for the 2016-2017 term.
Marisa has been a paralegal since 2007, specializing in IP litigation. She joined the firm in 2018 and has a B.S. degree from Texas Christian University and a Paralegal Certificate in Legal Studies from Webster University. Marisa has legal experience in all areas of intellectual property litigation and patent prosecution.
A Paralegal in the O’Fallon Office of Sandberg Phoenix since 2011, Mary supports the firm’s business practice group. She and specializes in estate planning, estate/trust administration, real estate and corporate law. Mary has legal experience as a paralegal/legal assistant since 1985 and earned her A.S. in Secretarial Science from Belleville Area College, now known as Southwestern Illinois College. Outside of the firm, she is also an active member of the New Baden American Legion Auxiliary and is currently Secretary of the organization.
Therese started her career in 1982 and joined Sandberg Phoenix & von Gontard P.C. in 2002, specializing in handling business, real estate, collection, probate and estate planning work. Therese is a mentor for paralegals in the business department and serves as a resource for the business attorneys. Therese earned her A.A. in Paralegal Studies from St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley and continues to attend educational seminars in the business, collection, probate and estate planning areas. She is a member of the St. Louis Paralegal Association. Therese also conducts various CLE sessions at the firm which are available to all firm members, including other paralegals, attorneys and staff members.
Geralyn has been a paralegal since 1996 and supports the Business Practice Group. She has extensive experience in a variety of areas, including probate administration, guardianships, conservatorships, trust administration, estate planning and corporate and business law. Geri has more than 27 years of experience in the legal field and earned her A.A.S. degree from Jefferson College and her paralegal certificate from St. Louis Community College at Meramec.
Amanda joined Sandberg Phoenix in 2014 and is currently supporting the Business Practice Group as a Corporate Paralegal. Amanda recently completed a M.A. in Legal Studies at Webster University with departmental honors, earning the Delmar Cengage award for being at the top of her graduating class with the highest G.P.A., as well as being inducted into Lambda Epsilon Chi, the National Honors Society for Legal Studies. Amanda also earned a graduate certificate in Paralegal Studies in 2014 from Webster University with the same honors. Amanda previously earned a B.A. in Marketing and Advertising with a Minor in Broadcast Journalism from Webster University in 2006. Amanda is a member of the St. Louis Paralegal Association and enjoys attending meetings and CLE programs to continue to further her education. She currently serves as an Adjunct Professor of Advanced Procedures for Paralegals at Webster University.
Paula joined Sandberg Phoenix in 2018, bringing more than 20 years of experience in intellectual property law, with 13 years of experience as a Patent Paralegal. She has experience in various types of patent work which includes assisting attorneys and Legal Assistant’s in connection with the prosecution phase of both domestic and foreign patent applications. Paula is in charge of the Patent Maintenance Department which involves monitoring and attending to the payment of U.S. maintenance fees for granted patents, annuities for foreign patents and patent applications on behalf of our clients.
Michele has been a paralegal since 1990, specializing in litigation. She joined the firm in September, 2005 and has legal experience in nursing home litigation, business litigation, personal injury, medical malpractice, FELA, commercial litigation and insurance law. She earned her B.A. in Legal Studies from William Woods University and has been a member of the St. Louis Paralegal Association for twenty four years, having held the following board positions: Vice President, Secretary, NALA Liaison, President-Elect and President. She has also held the following chair positions for the organization: Membership Chair, Job Bank Chair, Volunteer Committee Chair, Newsletter Editor, Legal Assistants’ Day Chair and By-Laws Chair. In 2012, the St. Louis Paralegal Association recognized her as “Paralegal Legend” for her outstanding work as a paralegal. Presently, she is the Association’s Co-Chair of Programs and Education.
Christina has been a paralegal since 2008 and joined Sandberg Phoenix & von Gontard P.C. in 2018 supporting the business litigation and family law practice areas. Christina has a diverse legal background working in Estate Planning and Probate, Business Litigation, Residential and Commercial Real Estate, Corporate Law, Consumer Debt Defense, Personal Injury and Family Law. Christina received her Master’s degree from the University of Missouri – St. Louis and her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri – Kansas City. To continue to expand her legal knowledge and education, she attends various continuing legal education programs and volunteers to tackle work in unfamiliar practice areas. Christina is a member of the St. Louis Paralegal Association. In her spare time, Christina loves to travel, hike and camp with her partner Anatoly, their two dogs and their cat.
Kristy has been a paralegal since 2003 and joined Sandberg Phoenix & von Gontard P.C. in 2016 supporting the business litigation and employment groups as a litigation paralegal. Kristy has experience in a variety of areas including family law, litigation, foreclosure, estate planning, probate, real estate and business law. Kristy earned her B.A. in Pre-law from Fontbonne University and is a member of the St. Louis Paralegal Association where she attends meetings and furthers her legal education with various CLE programs. Kristy and her husband, Joel, have two children and three dogs at home and enjoy spending family time with them
Jill has been a paralegal since 1999, specializing in litigation. She joined the firm in November 2013 and has a B.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin – Stout and a Paralegal Certificate and M.A. in Legal Studies from Webster University. Jill has legal experience in business litigation, foreclosure, intellectual property litigation and white collar criminal matters.
Mandy has been a paralegal since 2002 and joined Sandberg Phoenix in 2018, specializing in litigation. Prior to joining the firm, Mandy gained experience in medical malpractice defense, class action and municipal law, business litigation, eDiscovery projects and personal injury (both plaintiff and defense). Mandy earned a Bachelor’s degree in both Education and History from Missouri Valley College (magna cum laude) and a paralegal certificate from Adams State College (with honors). In 2011, she earned the RP designation (Registered Paralegal) through NFPA and has maintained this privilege ever since. In 2014, she was honored by the St. Louis Paralegal Association, receiving the Paralegal Legend award. She is a member of several local, statewide and national professional associations, including holding a Director position for the Missouri Paralegal Association. She also serves on the Paralegal Advisory Committee for Vatterott College and has been a featured presenter in Continuing Legal Education seminars on myriad topics since 2009. In her spare time, Mandy enjoys kayaking, home remodeling projects, watching Cardinals baseball, Packers football and STL FC soccer, volunteering and enjoys eating out at ethnic restaurants.
A member of Sandberg Phoenix since 2004, Bob assists in the defense of health law and products liability matters. As the Paralegal Manager, he leads and manages the paralegal program in cooperation with the Paralegal Chair and the Benefits Operations Manager, and serves as the senior mentor to other paralegals within the firm. He has served Sandberg Phoenix on numerous litigation teams, committees and focus groups and has co-presented a number of Continuing Legal Education courses on various litigation-related topics. He is a member of the Association of Legal Administrators and the St. Louis Paralegal Association, and was that organization’s 2010 “Paralegal of the Year.” He earned his B.A. in Speech Communication from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and his Certificate of Paralegal Studies with Academic Honors from St. Louis Community College at Meramec. He serves on the St. Louis Community College Legal Studies Advisory Board and the Paralegal Committee of the Missouri Bar Association. Bob and his wife, Pat, have two adult children, and are lifelong St. Louis area residents.
Monica joined the firm in November 2013 and is a member of the Health Law team, specializing in litigation. She also has legal experience in medical malpractice, products liability and personal injury matters. Monica graduated with departmental honors at Southern Illinois University, where she received her B.A. in Paralegal Studies in December 2011. In her spare time, Monica enjoys spending time with her friends, family and two boxer dogs. She enjoys traveling and trying new restaurants.
Lori joined the firm in March 2018 and currently supports the Health Law and Products Liability Practice Groups. She earned her B.S. degree in Political Science from Rust College and JD from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale. She has legal experience in products liability, asbestos, personal injury and employment law.
Traci joined Sandberg Phoenix in 2014, bringing more than 15 years of experience as a paralegal, specializing in litigation. She has experience in various types of litigation, including employment litigation, products liability, business litigation, medical malpractice and nursing home litigation. She currently supports the Health Law and Products Liability Practice Groups. Traci graduated cum laude from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1999, where she received her B.A. in Paralegal Studies.
Rachel began her career as a paralegal in 2006 and has experience working in toxic tort litigation and medical malpractice. She joined Sandberg Phoenix and von Gontard’s Kansas City office in January 2014. Rachel earned her B.S. degree in Biology and Genetics from the University of Wisconsin- Madison in 2004, and her Masters of Forensic Science degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 2010.
Lori began her paralegal career in 1980 at Sandberg Phoenix, shortly before graduating with her A.A.S. in Paralegal Studies from St. Louis Community College at Meremac. Her experience was in medical malpractice, products liability, maritime and railroad law. Lori rejoined Sandberg Phoenix in 2012, where she focuses on medical malpractice, servicing the firm’s Hospital, Physician and Nursing Home clients. Prior to rejoining Sandberg, Phoenix, Lori worked in the Legal Department at Anheuser-Busch Companies, where she focused on complex lawsuits involving franchise issues, international trade and domestic products liability lawsuits, as well as personal injury actions. Lori was also active in the company’s Risk Management Group, evaluating insurance coverage issues for claims and lawsuits, as well as participating in the management of the Workers’ Compensation third party administration program. While at Anheuser-Busch, she earned her B.A. in Business at Webster University, graduating with honors. She is a member of the St. Louis Paralegal Association.
Heather joined Sandberg Phoenix in 2015 and is a member of the products liability team, specializing in asbestos defense. She earned her B.A. in Criminal Justice from Missouri Valley College in Marshall, MO and went on to earn her Paralegal Certification from Webster University in St. Louis. Heather is also a member of the St. Louis Paralegal Association where she currently holds the Bylaws chair position and serves on Sandberg Phoenix’s Charity Committee.
Serving as Paralegal Coordinator, Steve has been with Sandberg Phoenix for 20 years. He has a B.A. in Political Science from Ohio University, a Legal Assistant Certificate from St. Louis Community College and completion of Kroll Ontrack’s E-Discovery Certification Course. Steve works in the areas of products liability and medical malpractice litigation. He has served as Chair of the St. Louis Chapter of the International Paralegal Management Association and as the Association of Legal Administrators’ Education Coordinator. Currently, Steve serves on the Legal Studies Advisory Board for Maryville University, and has recently been invited to speak at the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis on the subject of ethics. He has also been published in BAMSL’s Law Journal, writing on the topic of Ethics for Paralegals and Their Attorneys. Steve has also given presentations locally and regionally on the topic of paralegal management. Additionally, Steve is a Commercial Pilot with an instrument rating and has passed his Flight Instructor written exam.
Jordan joined Sandberg Phoenix in 2011, after working as a litigation paralegal since 2006, and focuses her work in the areas of product liability and health law. She has additional experience in probate, personal injury, family, criminal misdemeanor and FELA matters. Jordan earned her bachelor’s in Paralegal Studies from Webster University, graduating with Departmental Honors in 2008. She earned her associate’s in legal studies from Southwestern Illinois College in 2007.
