Biography
Mark A. Prost is a shareholder of Sandberg Phoenix & von Gontard and has been with the firm since 2000. He focuses his practice in products liability, health law and general litigation.
Mark has a broad range of litigation experience in representing product manufacturers in cases involving significant and catastrophic injuries. He has defended cases involving helicopters, trucks, automobiles, motorcycles, medical products, children's products and welding products. Mark also is a member of the Firm's Asbestos Group. He has trial experience in Missouri and Illinois courts, and has taken more than 300 depositions in more than 20 states. Mark also has successfully handled several high exposure cases on behalf of clients involved in mediation.
As part of his health law practice, Mark also has handled complex medical malpractice cases in Illinois and Missouri. He has successfully defended hospitals and physicians in cases involving wrongful death, catastrophic brain injuries and a wide variety of medical matters, including obstetrics/gynecology and emergency room care.
In 2009, Mark received the honor of being named by Missouri Lawyers Weekly as an "Up & Coming Lawyer" in Missouri.
Prior to joining Sandberg Phoenix, he was a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Robert W. Cook of the Illinois Appellate Court, Fourth District, from 1997 to 2000.

Civic Activities Mark regularly serves as an honorary judge in the National Health Law Moot Court Competition at Southern Illinois University School of Law. He also has served as a judge in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. Mark is a member of the Missouri Historical Society.
Professional Activities Mark is admitted to practice law in Missouri, Illinois, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, the Western District of Missouri and the Southern District of Illinois.
He is a member of the Defense Research Institute, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, and the Hispanic National Bar Association. In addition, Mark serves on the Board of Sandberg Phoenix's Associate Commitee, and he is a member of the Firm's Diversity and Recruiting Committees.

Education Mark earned his Juris Doctor,
cum laude, at Southern Illinois University School of Law, Carbondale in 1997.
He served as Articles Editor for the Southern Illinois University Law Journal (l996-1997). He also was a member of the Order of the Barristers (1997) and a member of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Team (1996-1997), where he successfully argued in the semi-finals and final rounds of the Midwest Regional Competition in St. Louis.
He earned his undergraduate degree in Risk Management/Insurance from Florida State University in 1993.
