Biography
David Hoffman joined Sandberg Phoenix & von Gontard in 2003. He focuses his practice in the firm’s health law and general litigation areas.
Mr. Hoffman has experience working on a variety of sports injury cases, including issues related to supervision, faulty equipment, and the applicability of waivers. Prevention of sports-related injuries and lawsuits is of keen interest to him as well. As such, he lectures on risk management issues to a variety of local businesses and recreational professionals.
In addition, he has experience in various medical malpractice areas, including psychiatric, neurosurgical and pathology cases.
Prior to joining Sandberg Phoenix as an associate, David held several clerkship positions with local insurance defense firms. He also served as clerk for a nationally recognized firm dealing specifically with various class-action related matters.
In 2009, David was named as a Rising Star by the Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers publication. David was also named in 2009 by Missouri Lawyers Weekly one of Missouri’s “Up and Coming Lawyers.”

Civic Activities David is a member of the Civil Rights Committee of the Anti-Defamation League of Missouri and Southern Illinois.
Professional Activities David is admitted to practice law in Illinois, Missouri, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois.
He is a member of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis and a member of the Young Lawyers Division of the Bar Association. David is also a member of the Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers.
In addition, David is very active with internal firm activities. He is a member of the firm’s Diversity Committee. He is dedicated to the Summer Associate Program, which he has supervised from 2006 through 2010.
Education David earned his Juris Doctor from Saint Louis University School of Law in 2003.
He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois in 1999.
