Community Involvement

Beyond the Charity Committee's sponsored organizations, our members also give back on an individual basis by taking on leadership positions within the community.

Veronica L. Armouti
Veronica is on the Board of Directors for the Diversity Awareness Partnership and the SIUE Alumni Association, where she also Chairs the By-Laws Committee. She is on the Advisory Board of Directors for the Children’s Museum in Edwardsville, Illinois, and she is on the Allocations Panel for the United Way, Southwest Illinois Division. She is part of the Nominating Committee of the Alton, Illinois YWCA and a Co-Panelist for the SIUE Meridian Society’s Woman’s Philanthropy & Leadership Workshop. Veronica also mentors for both the St. Louis University Black Law Student Association and SIUE’s Students Today Alumni Tomorrow (STAT). In addition, she is the Manager of the Edwardsville Elite Basketball Club.


Thomas E. Berry, Jr.
Tom serves on the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors for the Southwest Illinois Division of the United Way of Greater St. Louis (2000-present) along with being a panel chair for the allocations committee (2000-present). Tom also serves on the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee for the United Way of Greater St. Louis (2004-present), the Board of Directors for the Illinois Center for Autism (2004-present) and the Board of Directors for the Madison County Urban League (2006-present).


W. Wylie Blair
Wylie is a founder and sits on the Board of Directors of the Fred Pearson Foundation, a charitable organization to benefit underprivileged youth in his home town of Centralia, Illinois.


Jamie L. Bremerkamp
Jamie is Vice President of the Board for Keystone of St. Louis. Keystone is a non-profit organization that raises money for other small, non-United Way funded charities whose funds stay in the St. Louis area by throwing events throughout the year at various venues around St. Louis.


Apollo D. Carey
Apollo serves on the Board of Directors for both the Missouri Growth Association (MGA) and the MGA's Legislative Committee and Property Tax Task Force. He is also the chairman of the Government Affairs Committee for the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP).


Martin L. Daesch
Marty is a member of the Webster Groves City Council - Charter Review Commission and the MSD Strategic Business Plan Advisory Committee. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Foster and Adoptive Care Coalition of Greater St. Louis.


Warren W. Davis
Warren serves on the Dean’s Advisory Committee of Washington University.


Timothy P. Dugan
Tim sits on the Board of Directors of the Lewis & Clark Institute, a non-profit corporation. dedicated to the education of children.


Jeffrey L. Dunn
Jeff is on the Board of Directors, Executive Committee and serves as General Counsel for Voices for Children, a not-for-profit providing volunteer advocates and legal services for abused and neglected children in the City of St. Louis.
 
Jeff serves on the Operations committee for Lutheran Senior Services, a not-for-profit provider of senior housing and long term care, and he also serves on the Board of Directors of the Concordia Foundation.    


David Z. Hoffman
David is a member of the Civil Rights Committee of the Anti-Defamation League of Missouri and Southern Illinois.


Kathryn M. Huelsebusch
Kathryn serves as a Program Coordinator for the Judicial Branch of the YMCA Missouri Youth in Government Program which offers high school students throughout Missouri the opportunity to build leadership skills and experience government.
 

Mary L. Jennings
Mary serves on the Board of the Gateway Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators. The Association of Legal Administrators is 10,000+ members. The organization promotes and enhances the competence and professionalism of all members of the legal management team and improves the quality in management in law firms and legal service organizations. The local chapter, the Gateway Chapter representing the surrounding St. Louis area, has approximately 100 members.  


Janyce K. Johnson
Janyce serves on the Board of Directors of Christian Family Services, a not-for-profit agency offering foster care, adoption, maternity, and counseling services in the greater St. Louis area.


Diane J. Keefe
Diane is a Board Member of Manor Grove Nursing Home in Kirkwood, Missouri.


Clayton G. Kuhn
Clayton serves as a member of the United Way of Greater St. Louis Allocations Committee for Youth Development.


Lisa C. Langeneckert
Lisa is a Board Member for Community Women Against Hardship, Barkley House and Planned Parenthood. She is the Missouri Coordinator for National Brittany Rescue & Adoption Network, and she is also a member of the United Way of Greater St. Louis' Women's Leadership Society.


Nicole C. Larch
Nicole serves as a member of the Junior Board for Nurses for Newborns Foundation.


Bobbie J. Moon
Bobbie serves as Secretary on the Board of Directors of the Maternal Child and Family Health Coalition. The mission of the coalition is to unite and mobilize key stakeholders in the St. Louis area to improve maternal, child and family health. In addition to her Board role, she also serves on the MCFHC Fetal and Infant Mortality Review team.


Timothy B. Niedbalski
Tim is on the Executive Board at HavenHouse, a local charity with a mission to provide the comfort of home and a community of support for families traveling to St. Louis for medical care.


Timothy O'Leary
Tim serves as a member of the United Way of Greater St. Louis Allocations Committee for Youth Development.


Stacie A. Owens
Stacie serves on the Community Investment Panel for the United Way of Greater St. Louis, reviewing area United Way agencies and determining funding allocations. She is also a member of the United Way of Greater St. Louis' Women's Leadership Society.


Bhavik R. Patel
Bhavik is a Board Member of the Foster and Adoptive Care Coalition. The Coalition assists in placement of foster children and the training of foster parents. Bhavik also founded and chairs the Foster and Adoptive Care Coalition’s Junior Board.


G. Keith Phoenix
Keith serves on the Board of Trustees for Saint Louis University. He is also Chairman of the Development and Community Relations Committee at the University.


Kathleen L. Pine
Kathy serves on the Board of the Women's Center in Carbondale, Illinois. This not-for-profit group is dedicated to stopping violence against women and children. Kathy also serves on the Southern Illinois University's School of Art & Design's Art and Advisory Board. The main function of the Board is to raise money for the school of Art and Design through their annual art auction.

Kathy also serves on the Board of the McLeod Summer Playhouse at Southern Illinois University.

Keith D. Price
Keith serves as the Board Secretary for Discovering Options, a non-profit after-school program for at-risk children in the City of St. Louis. The organization helps at-risk children avoid drug use and other self-destructive behaviors through mentoring and comprehensive after school programming that encourages family involvement.  Keith has served on the Board of Discovering Options since 2006.
 
In 2010, Keith joined the Board of Doorways, a non-profit organization that provides affordable, secure housing and related supportive services to people living with HIV/AIDS. In addition to his Board role, Keith serves as a member of the Executive Committee, where he provides general oversight to the organization and chairs the committee charged with assessing future needs and programs of the organization.


John S. Sandberg
John is Chairman of the Board for the Wyman Center, whose mission is to enable teens from disadvantaged circumstances to lead successful lives and build strong communities. He is also on the Board of the Affton Education Foundation whose mission is to improve and enhance educational opportunities and resources for all children enrolled in the Affton School District, and for the teachers who support them.


Timothy C. Sansone
Tim is Chair of the firm's Charitable Efforts Committee, which directs the efforts of the Sandberg Phoenix & von Gontard Charitable Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization founded by members of Sandberg Phoenix for the betterment of our community. He is a member of the Board of Active Minds Charter School and has coordinated the firm's annual United Way campaign for the last three years.
   

Anthony J. Soukenik
Tony is a Board Member of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools and the DePaul Foundation. He is a member of both the Committee on Trustees and Development and the Cultivation Committee for the Academy of the Sacred Heart. He also Chairs the City of Hazelwood Board of Appeals.
    

Reed W. Sugg
Reed serves on the Board of Directors and the Finance Committee of Westminster Christian Academy, an upper school with approximately 800 students in grades 7 through 12.


Peter von Gontard
Peter is on the Board of the Great Rivers Habitat Alliance.
