Recognized for their academic and career accomplishments, their ability to overcome obstacles in their lives and careers, their community involvement, and their potential to make a difference in the profession, the legal system or the community, 2013 Up & Coming award recipients were selected by the editors of Missouri Lawyers Weekly. More than 170 Missouri attorneys were nominated in 2013, with 48 lawyers under the age of 40 or within the first ten years of their legal careers receiving recognition.
This year marks the first time Missouri Lawyers Weekly has recognized a Law Firm Leader, and Sandberg Phoenix & von Gontard Shareholder Bhavik Patel was honored as the first recipient of the award. The sole individual honored in 2013, Bhavik was recognized for his leadership of the growing Business Law practice at Sandberg Phoenix and his management of attorneys who provide companies, individuals and governmental entities with insightful guidance and timely assistance for all their business needs. He was also recognized for the significant growth in trust and estate services provided by Sandberg Phoenix.
As an active community member, Bhavik is an emeritus board member of the Foster and Adoptive Care Coalition, which assists in placement of foster children and the training of foster parents. Bhavik also founded the Foster and Adoptive Care Coalition’s Junior Board. He is also the Founder and Chairman of the Board for Families at Ease, a local not-for-profit entity, in which Bhavik helps deliver information about programs, services and resources available for special needs children and their families.
Bhavik also shares his passion for law, teaching as an adjunct professor of “Practical Issues in
Wealth Planning and Drafting” at Washington University School of Law and Graduate Tax Program.
Along with the rest of the honorees, including Up & Coming winner and Sandberg Phoenix Shareholder Aaron French, Bhavik will be recognized at the awards ceremony on September 13.
