Ross Boden, Associate


Ross is a senior associate at Sandberg, Phoenix & von Gontard P.C. and is licensed to practice in state and federal courts in Kansas and in Missouri. Ross has substantial experience in a wide range of practice areas, focusing primarily on litigation and trial work in construction, employment and commercial law. In addition to trial victories, Ross has obtained multiple cost-efficient wins for clients through dispositive motions and mediations. As a result of his successes, Ross has been named a “Rising Star” by Missouri and Kansas Super Lawyers since 2014.

As a member of both the business litigation and products liability groups at Sandberg Phoenix, Ross has successfully represented clients in a number of industries, including construction, design professionals, banking, insurance, real estate, development, landlord-tenant, accounting and manufacturing.

  • Obtained summary judgment defending a claim of more than $11 million in damages
  • Successfully dismissed multiple claims of discrimination/harassment against employers
  • Won a motion to dismiss an interlocutory appeal in the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals
  • Won a motion to dismiss a wrongful foreclosure case in federal court where the plaintiff was asking for more than $3 million in damages and convinced the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals to uphold the dismissal based on the on the briefs alone
  • Obtained a nominal settlement for a subcontractor defending suit by the owner alleging more $1.2 million in damages
  • Obtained a voluntary dismissal in a negligent construction case where the plaintiff was alleging more than $2 million for significant bodily injuries



Joining Sandberg Phoenix in 2015, Ross Boden brings more than five years of experience as a litigator in Kansas and Missouri. Ross has handled matters ranging from products liability, construction, commercial litigation and insurance coverage to contract disputes and employment litigation, including FMLA, sexual harassment, whistleblower, discrimination and non-compete issues.

“Sandberg Phoenix offered an opportunity for me to develop a more specialized practice and hone my skills in complex litigation,” Ross says.

Ross works closely with clients to develop a litigation strategy based on a complete understanding of his clients’ business environment and their individual goals. Ross works to minimize exposure for his clients and assist them in guarding against future legal action.

“The best part about being an attorney is learning about my clients and their businesses and helping them obtain the best, cost-effective outcome in a challenging and uncertain legal situation,” says Ross.

In his free time, Ross enjoys playing tennis and golf, reading non-fiction military novels, and developing his culinary and wine pairing skills.
