Recent Defense Verdict(s)
Defense verdict on behalf of SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in a premises/construction case in St. Louis County, Missouri in September 2018. Plaintiff alleged falling along a newly constructed Delivery Drop Off lane and claimed it was defective which caused her to fall. Corey and his partner, Diane Robben, successfully argued the Delivery Drop Off Lane was reasonably safe as constructed and the plaintiff’s fall was an accident and due to her failure to keep a careful lookout. The jury returned a defense verdict in favor of SSM.
Receiving his bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia, Corey’s academic performance placed him on the Dean’s List and earned him membership in the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Fraternity and National Society of Collegiate Scholars. He also served as a member of his Second and Third Year Class Councils and performed community service through Madison House.
Corey went on to earn his Juris Doctor from Washington University, where he served as a Primary Editor of the Washington University Global Studies Law Review and was a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity and its community service committee.
He has been recognized for his outstanding work in the field of Medical Malpractice Defense by Virginia Super Lawyers, who named Corey to their list of Rising Stars in 2013 and 2014, and he was also recognized by Virginia Lawyers Weekly for his role as second chair attorney in two multi-million dollar defense verdicts in 2011. He was recognized by Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers from 2013 – 2017 as a Rising Star.
He currently serves as a member of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis. Corey is licensed to practice law in the states of Missouri, Illinois, the District of Columbia, Virginia and Maryland, and before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia.
