Tracy Phipps joined Sandberg Phoenix in 2018 as a shareholder. Her practice is focused on civil litigation defense with a concentration in products liability, premises liability, toxic tort defense and asbestos defense. She previously worked to defense business and insurance clients in workers’ compensation matters. Over the last fifteen years, Tracy has successfully defended thousands of cases in Madison County, Illinois and St. Louis City as well as throughout the State of Illinois and State of Missouri. She has represented a wide variety of corporate clients and particularly enjoys working with small business owners who are new to the world of asbestos and product liability litigation. Tracy takes great care in assisting clients to understand the litigation process, keep clients timely apprised of case status, and is always especially mindful of client economic concerns. She continually strives to find new and innovative ways to most effectively and efficiently serve her clients.
Because of her commitment to the advancement and retention of women in the legal profession, Tracy serves as Co-chair of the Sandberg Phoenix Women’s Committee. She also works as Chair of the Sandberg Phoenix Paralegal Management Team where she supports the firm’s paralegals in providing essential services to our clients at an exceptional value. Outside of her time at Sandberg Phoenix, Tracy serves as President of the Board of Directors of Camp Ondessonk Catholic Youth Camp (Diocese of Belleville, Illinois) and has been a member of that Board’s executive team since 2014.
Tracy was born and raised in Evansville, Indiana and now resides just outside of St. Louis, Missouri in Waterloo, Illinois with her husband, their two young daughters and two retired racing greyhounds.

Tracy earned her Juris Doctor degree from Saint Louis University School of Law where she served as an officer of the Women Law Students’ Association, clerked for the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s office and interned for Catholic Legal Assistance Ministry representing low income clients in dissolutions, child custody matters and contract disputes.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Indiana University, where she majored in philosophy and criminal justice and served on the Indiana Memorial Union Board of Directors.
Tracy is licensed to practice in the states of Missouri and Illinois and before the United States District Court Southern District of Illinois and the United States District Court Eastern District of Missouri.
She is a member of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, the American Bar Association, the Missouri Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association.
