Biography
Andrew D. Ryan is a shareholder of Sandberg Phoenix & von Gontard and is the Products Liability Practice Group Leader. His practice concentrates primarily in products liability.
Andy has successfully tried cases to judges and juries in state and federal courts throughout Missouri and Southern Illinois, both as lead trial counsel and as the second chair attorney. Additionally, he has argued in the appellate courts of Missouri, Illinois and Kansas, including an appearance before the Missouri Supreme Court. He has represented both manufacturers and distributors of automobiles, industrial equipment, recreational vehicles, medical devices and other products. Andy has also defended motor carriers in cases involving the condition of tractor-trailers and alleged violations of federal motor carrier regulations. His experience further includes class action and mass tort litigation defense involving EPA Superfund Sites, welding consumables, asbestos and pharmaceutical products.
After graduating from law school, Andy focused his practice on plaintiffs' personal injury work in Liberty, Missouri, before returning to St. Louis in September 1998, where he practiced at a defense firm until joining Sandberg Phoenix.

Andy is licensed to practice in Missouri, Illinois, Kansas, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois and the United States District Court for the District of Kansas. He is a member of the Missouri Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, the Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers, and the Defense Research Institute, and also serves on the firm's Professional Development Committee in addition to his work as the Products Liability Practice Group Leader.
